Our Honeymoon

I could go on for ages about how amazing our honeymoon was, but I’ll try to keep this short. The photos really sum it up better than I could.

J planned the ENTIRE trip and did a great job – plus, it was so fun to have one extra surprise after the wedding. So where was this secret location? Barbados! I’ve never been to an island in the Caribbean before, but it’s hard for me to imagine anywhere more beautiful than Barbados. J picked an awesome resort called The Crane – so, so gorgeous. It was only at 30% capacity, so it was like having the place to ourselves.

We spent the first few days relaxing on the beach or at one of the resort pools and enjoying the amazing cuisine at the various restaurants. We took the opportunity to explore Barbados the second half of the week and went on a catamaran cruise, rum tour and cave exploration. All were very cool. The week was the perfect mix of relaxation and fun – wish we could have stayed a little longer in paradise. Maybe a return trip for an anniversary?? (Hint, hint)

It’s hard to imagine another vacation topping this one! What’s the best trip you’ve been on?

Lazy Weekend

J and I had an unusually calm weekend – I think a better word might be L-A-Z-Y. We did happy hour at the Milwaukee Ale House on Friday night, wandered around the Third Ward and made homemade malts. It rained off and on all day Saturday, but we snuck out to the neighborhood pond to hang out for awhile that night. Sunday we kept up with the water theme – packed a picnic lunch and read/tanned/napped at Pewaukee lake. Whew – rough life ;)

I would have to say that the best part of the weekend was happening across a vintage shop in the Third Ward and finding a piece that I was just DYING to have for the wedding. Sorry, not spilling the beans, but it’s perfectly lovely! :)

Here’s a photo from Friday night…

How was your weekend? Or are you already looking forward to the next one like me?

Trip Home – IOWA

J and I were so lucky to be able to get away for such and extended period – it was really great to get to settle in for some good ol’ family bonding. My sister was back home with her daughter Mahala during the same time, so our days were filled with playing kitchen, splashing in the pool and chasing little M around in general :)

Time seems to slow down while we’re home in Iowa. I sleep a little later, take a little longer to drink my coffee and don’t reach for my laptop or cell phone nearly as often. It’s nice. And exactly what I needed.

Memorial Day Weekend

J and I had a great Memorial Day Weekend – just the right combination of relaxing and fun! We hit up some of our favorite Milwaukee hot spots (watermelon and berry beer, anyone?) and even got to meet up with some college friends at a lake near Madison. Get J next to a body of water and he’s happy as a clam – I definitely see a lake house in our future. Ok FAR future, but a girl can wish, right?!

How was your first taste of summer?! I need to get to work planning our next adventure!
