eleanor: 4 months

Another month has passed, and life is good with our growing girl! This is the 1st month that she increased in her growth percentiles. Our pediatrician had been closely monitoring her stats in hopes that she wouldn’t slip further, so it was great news to hear she was at the 75th percentile for height and 40th for weight! Although our Dr. is pro breastfeeding, her concern over Eleanor’s weight had me worried that she would want to supplement with formula. At this appointment she said Eleanor was “thriving” on her current diet, so nothing needed to be changed – music to an overly worried mother’s ears :)

We are settling more and more into a routine and working really hard to get regular naps. Eleanor is still more of a cat napper, and only wants to sleep in my arms during the day. I’ve commitment myself to laying her down in her crib for naps. Sometimes the crib, cry, soothe, crib, cry, soothe cycle can go on for an hour. It’s exhausting – I’m ready for a nap by the end, haha! Many times it seems easier to just let her sleep in my arms, but I know it will be worth the trouble when it’s time to transition her to a daycare setting.

Eleanor is so interactive – every day I’m just in awe of how much she’s changed!

At 4 months Eleanor…

…weighs 13 lbs 4 oz

…is 25 inches long

…goes to bed around 8:30pm and wakes once to eat

…can grasp objects and pull them to her mouth

…has an adorable belly laugh

…is on the verge of rolling (sooooooo close)

…enjoys spending time outside and watching trees in the wind

…is fascinated by her puppy Ruby and wants to grab her fur

…continues to be an avid thumb sucker

…eats about 4 oz per feeding

…laughs at the sound “buzzzzzzzzz”

…loves touching her mom and dad’s faces

…sleeps in her crib in her nursery

…tries to suck her thumb while nursing (not an easy feat)

…is testing the range of her vocal cords with shrieks, coos, and the occasional growl

…is an extremely distractible eater (no talking allowed)

…likes to sit upright to see the world and can do so with less support

…tracks everything going on in the room with her dark blue eyes

…continues to be the love of my life :)

Happy 4 months baby girl! Can’t wait to see what month 5 has in store!

8pm bedtime with 1 wake-up? That sounds heavenly. I sure hope I can say that about my son at 4 months! Keep up the good work, momma. =)

I had the same concern with my daughter. As a mom i started to worry is it something that I’m doing wrong? My little girl has only ever been in the third percentile for weight so it used to be a constant worry for me. She was in a size 1 diaper up until a couple weeks ago and she just turned 11 months old. She’s just now a little over 15 pounds. I stressed and stressed about her weight. i had people constantly asking me if she was a premie and asking me if there was something wrong with her. they also kept telling me she needed to be on formula which i really did not want to do. i just started ignoring peoples comments and came to the realization that she’s perfectly healthy she’s just small and petite. once i did that and actually enjoyed my daughter instead of worrying over her my life was a lot more peaceful.
