I’ve never participated in a blog swap like this, but when I read about the Hung for the Holidays Ornament Exchange, I just had to put my name in! The idea is simple, everyone gets a name, finds out a little about their recipient and picks out an ornament perfectly suited for their tree :)
I completely spaced on taking photos of the ornament I bought for Kim over at Barking Mad about Running, but she’s got a post up about her experience as well, so I definitely encourage you to go check it out!
Maureen from Running on Cabernet (love that name, by the way) was my gifter and she did an AMAZING job! I told her the highlight of every holiday is baking with my mom and sister, so she picked out this adorable baking ornament. Take a look:
It’s definitely a fitting addition to our Christmas tree! This was such a fun experience to spread some Christmas joy and find a few new blogs to follow along the way!
What ornament do you think best describes you?
Today J and I are in the process of wrapping up loose ends at home and preparing for the trek back home (Iowa and Nebraska) for the holidays. There are still sewing projects to be finished, gifts to be wrapped and treats to bake, but we took a slow morning for ourselves. We dropped Ruby off for a (much needed) grooming and settled in to get some work done at Panera. Nothing motivates me quite like a cinnamon roll the size of my face :)
Even with a “to-do” list a mile long, it was nice to slow down and spend some time with J. The holidays can get crazy, so I’m glad we took one last opportunity to hang out just the two of us before we’re (happily) surrounded by our families.
In other news, the giant snowstorm that was due to hit Milwaukee was utterly underwhelming. Not one flake fell overnight. We’ve had constant rain, but with temps around 39°, it’s not looking like we’ll see snow anytime soon. Here’s hoping that the freeze doesn’t hit tomorrow when we start our drive home!
Ruby’s hair appointment took just about as long as my cut and color does, but you have to admit, she looks pretty darn cute…
Well, my “to-do” list is staring me down, so I guess I’d better get to work. Hope you all stay warm and dry and find some time to slow down before the hectic holidays hit us full-force!
Wow, where has the time gone? I last posted mid-October and SO much has happened since then. School has overtaken my life, but in 3 short days, I’ll officially be on break! Woo hooooooooooo! Then it’s full force into Christmas – I have SO many projects that need to be completed before heading home for the holidays! Oh well, Christmas “to do’s” are the best “to do’s.”
Let’s see, what can I fill you in on from the past few weeks….. here are some highlights:
We got Ruby potty trained (and into a dress)
We prepped and froze our CSA fall storage share
We hosted Thanksgiving for 8
We attended a gorgeous winter wedding
We wrapped gifts for our loved ones
We cruised Candy Cane Lane
We left Ruby for the first time overnight (yes, this is a big deal and requires it’s own line)
We have one more project to reveal, but that’ll just have to wait for another post :)
You better watch out; you better not cry! There’s a new Santa in town! :)
This photo makes me laugh every time I see it. J is the lankiest Santa I’ve ever seen – even with the fake tummy we gave him! We had a great time dressing up for a Santa Pub Crawl in Milwaukee a few weeks ago. I think Santa might even be paying a special visit to my niece this evening!
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope Santa is good to you :)
